CIB pdf toolbox technical guide (EN)
4. Possibilities of form use
The CIB pdf toolbox offers ideal possibilities for PDF form management.
For merging user data into existing PDF forms, CIB pdf merge is the appropriate solution. The support of a web-optimized and/or encrypted output is self-evident.
For PDF documents without form fields, variable data, additional texts, graphics or form fields can be placed on the desired position for subsequent interactive filling using CIB pdf overlay.
This covers basically all options of filling a form with data.
In addition, there is the possibility to make evaluations about the fields of a form.
You can use the CIB pdf toolbox to:
- retrieve all included form fields
- retrieve all field types of a form ("Button", "Check", "Radio", "Text", "List", "Combo") and also recognize unknown types (e.g. signature)
- retrieve the content of a field
- for radio buttons and checkboxes it is the statename (export value)
- for text fields it is the text
- for list boxes it is the selected value. If there are multiple selections the values are separated by a ; symbol
- for combo boxes it is the value appearing in the edit field
- retrieve additional values
- for checkboxes, radio buttons, list boxes and combo boxes: a list of possible values, separated by a ; symbol
- retrieve additional field options
- currently only „MaxLen=<Length>“ for text
fields with MaxLen>0
In combination with the interface modules CIB view, CIB image or jView it is possible to fill in, save and print PDF forms interactively as long as the fields are not locked for editing.
Direct (silent) PDF print is also supported with these components.
