Working with Filters

On the left side of the task list is the filter area, whose content is typically defined by the business side. Each filter defines a specific view of the set of all active process tasks that need to be processed.

The following video provides a more detailed introduction to filters in CIB flow:

Consider in which business context you want to work on your open process tasks.
If you want to work on all pending tasks that you have already been assigned as the assignee, select My Tasks.
If you want to see which tasks you could potentially work on, but are not currently assigned to you, click on Task Pool.
You may also have process-specific filters available, such as Application or Inbox, etc. Select one of these filters to work on tasks in a specific process context.

So when entering the task list, generally follow these steps:

  1. Select the appropriate context using a task filter
  2. Select a task from the task list
  3. If necessary, assign and process the task in the editing area

Standard Filters

For organizing tasks, company-wide, similar standard filters are usually used. Here are three possible standard filters that could always exist:

Filter Name Description
All Tasks An overview of all tasks to which you are assigned as a potential assignee (candidate). The task will be displayed regardless of whether someone else is currently working on it. This view allows you to get an overview and reassign tasks that have already been assigned to someone else.
My Tasks An overview of all tasks to which you are currently assigned as the assignee. This filter generally represents the current workload of an individual.
Task Pool An overview of all tasks in a group to which you are assigned as a potential assignee (candidate) but that have not yet been worked on by anyone. This filter can be used to assign new tasks to yourself if your current workload is completed or if new important tasks arrive.

In addition to these standard filters, there are often others, such as process-specific filters. These may be filters that only include tasks for a particular process.

Pinned Filters

You can personalize your view here by "pinning" filters as favorites. When the filter bar is collapsed, the selected favorites remain available to be selected from the side. This can save space when working on a task.
